You can start BME by double clicking on the BME program icon in your PageStream folder.

The toolbox

After BME has loaded, its toolbox will appear. The toolbox allows you to paint, define areas to modify, and change the part of the picture which is shown in picture windows.

Paint tool: For painting pixels. When this tool is selected, the mouse pointer changes to a crosshair.

Eyedropper tool: For picking up colors used in the picture window. When this tool is selected, the mouse pointer changes to the Eyedropper pointer.

Marquee tool: For selecting a rectangular area of the picture. When this tool is selected, the mouse pointer changes to a crosshair.

Magnify tool: For increasing and decreasing the view magnification.When this tool is selected, the mouse pointer changes to a magnifying glass picture.

Drag tool: For dragging the picture within the picture window. When this tool is selected, the mouse pointer changes to the hand pointer.

The toolbar

New
Creates a new picture. This is the same as choosing New from the File menu.

Open
Opens an existing picture. This is the same as choosing Open from the File menu.

Save
Saves the current picture. This is the same as choosing Save from the File menu.

Cut
Cuts the selection and copies it to the clipboard. This is the same as choosing Cut from the Edit menu.

Copy
Copies to selection to the clipboard. This is the same as choosing Copy from the Edit menu.

Paste
Pastes the clipboard contents into the current picture. This is the same as choosing Paste from the Edit menu.

Clear
Paints the selection with the background color. This is the same as choosing Clear from the Edit menu.

Undo
Undoes the last action. This is the same as choosing Undo from the Edit menu.

Redo
Redoes the last action. This is the same as choosing Redo from the Edit menu.

Play Script
Executes an external script. This is the same as choosing Play External Script from the Scripts menu.

Preferences
Sets the general BME preferences. This is the same as choosing Preferences from the File menu.

BME's toolbox, toolbar, windows, menus and other interface elements function identically to PageStream.
